The Power of The Cross

The Power of The Cross

“The Power of The Cross is that it was and is such an intimate act of love that it draws people to the One who suffered.”  (Pastor Les)

We often make a mistake in thinking that the power of The Cross is seen primarily in the tangible gifts of the Holy Spirit or Christian principles being set in place.  While both are powerful and both can be a result of The Cross, they are not the power of The Cross.

Love is the power of The Cross.  Love wins all and all are won by love.  But as we discover in this message it is not your love that wins all, but the love of God that wins all.  We can love others but they are only saved when we direct them to our Father’s powerful love.

Why is The Cross is powerful?   Because it…

  1. Put to death a perfect man, fully God, who willingly gave Himself as a sacrifice.
  2. Was the complete picture of and fulfillment of the Old Testament Passover and Israel’s departure from Egypt (slavery) across the Red Sea and into the Promised Land.
  3. Was brutal, dehumanizing and unimaginable.
  4. Was foolish and weak according to the world’s systems.

Join us as we explore the power of The Cross in us and through us.

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
(I Corinthians 1:18)
