The Impossibility of Continuing the Ministry of Jesus

The Impossibility of Continuing the Ministry of Jesus

Everything that you could not do, up until the point you did it, was impossible.

  • Talking.
  • Walking.
  • Riding a bike.
  • Reading.

Almost everything that you will enjoy today, until it was done for the first time, was impossible.

  • Radio.
  • Movies.
  • Telephones.
  • Cars.
  • Electricity.
  • Computer.

Yet, all the components were always there. All you needed to walk, talk, read and ride a bike were already embedded within you.

It just had to be “discovered”.

When you dream about doing something impossible, what is your brain telling you?

When you hear scriptures like, “And these signs will follow…” and “We will do greater works..” what is your brain, that Old, Dead Man, saying?

Find that out and then you can choose who you will listen to as we enter into 2020.

We are talking about The Year of Doing the Impossible at The Journey Life this month and into January 2020. It is going to be challenging and exciting!

1Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”22And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.23If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”  (John 20:21-23 NIV)

9Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’   (Luke 10:9 NIV)

12Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”   (John 14:12 -14 NIV)

YES!! WE are to continue the ministry of Jesus. NOW, not later.

False Signs & Wonders Exist

Yes, some will come with false signs and wonders.  Does that mean we stay away from signs and wonders?  Some will come with a false gospel? Does that mean we stop preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ?

“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Mark 13:22 NIV and Matthew 24:24))

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie.”  (2 Thessalonians 2:9 NIV)

Would Jesus even need to mention False Messiahs and Prophets with False Signs and Wonders IF there were no such thing as Signs and Wonders?  Wouldn’t it have been much better to say, “There are no such things as Signs and Wonders?”

It is a bit like saying, “Watch out for a bad bag of Spinach”.  We know there are good bags of Spinach out there, right? If Spinach was all bad we’d just say, “Don’t eat Spinach at all”.

When we do not Believe In and Act Upon scriptural things because of the Possibility of Counterfeits then we have more Faith in Satan’s ability to counterfeit than we do in God’s ability to utilize the Real Thing.

Are there some people who get married, try to have happy, healthy, whole marriages and the marriages fail?  Of Course! Does that mean we stop aiming for those Kingdom Marriages? Of course, not!

Everything was at one time impossible–including fire!  The wheel! Housing! Farming was impossible for a few thousand years!!

Some Do Have Wrong Motives for Signs & Wonders

Yes, some will only believe IF they see signs and wonders.  They will be drawn in for the wrong reasons and may not even stay.  Yet, just because some are hard hearted and some won’t hear the heart of God, does that mean we stop believing in, stop pursuing and stop moving towards signs and wonders?

“Unless you people see signs and wonders,”  Jesus told him, “you will never believe” (John 4:48 NIV)
